Of course we would love to add everyone to the State of ... zines.
However, the work has to fit the way we put the zines together.
The choice of photographers is made by invitation only.
However if you think your work would be a good fit for a zine, fill in the form below with the links to your websites and/or social media.
We can then check to see if your photos match those of a specific zine before downloading anything.
If you look at a published zine, you will get a good idea of what we want to show.
The zines are curated, printed in limited editions and all participating photographers are contributing voluntarily and unpaid.
Each edition of the State has a maximum of 6 different photographers.
You are completely free to submit whatever you want about the specific location (as long as it is street/documentary photography related). The goals is really to see your personal vision, story and style. It's more about you than your images.
Most people send between 8 and 15 photos from which we then select 4 or 6 for the zine.
Of course you retain full and exclusive rights to your own photos.
Your photographs will only be placed in zines for which you have given permission.
Copyright and all other rights of each photo featured belongs to the photographer.
Printing is expensive and it's difficult to bring your work to the attention.
By working together we can reduce the costs considerably. And by publishing it together, the spread and reach is much greater than if you do everything alone. It becomes more affordable and feasible.
To cover the costs of printing, we will divide the costs among the participating photographers.
You can do whatever you want with your zines: give them away or sell them on your social media/website.
To give you an indication - for example:
Collective zines like "State of ..."
36-page A5 zine (inlcuding front/back cover)
5 photographers with 6 photos each
Each photographer receives 5 copies.
Total €25
If you would like to receive more than 5 copies, that is also possible.
Ofcourse the more we order, the lower the price per zine becomes.
When the zine is ready to be printed, we will first determine together what the total number should be.
For personal Photographer's editions, so for your own zine (please note it still needs to fit into the Raw Sniffer Dogs branding).
32-page A5 zine (inlcuding front/back cover)
1 photographers with 28 pages for their photos
Photographer receives 20 copies.
Total €100
We make sure to be in contact with everyone to collect all the photos, create the layout of the zine and make sure everything is setup correctly regarding ink coverage, margins and color profiles for the printer.
Then after approval of all photographers, I discuss this with the printer, make the payment and get it actually printed.
Once the zines are back from the printer, they can be picked up or sent to you.
If you like to sell your copies we make sure to mention it here on this website too. So people can reach out directly to you by mail / website / social media. We're not an intermediary in this and we don't charge anything in return. You can handle it directly with the buyer.
We also sell some extra zines here at this website too. But that's only to cover costs and promote the zines. To be honest, there is no margin to actually earn anything, more time is spent on creating and arranging everything.
It is really more about getting extra attention to these zines. And to offer another place of getting your work out.
We also give away lots of zines to draw attention to everyone's work.
Feel free to reach out by mail, DM or the form here below.
Looking forward making a great zine together!
